John Lennon Educational Tour Bus As a result of Nicole Kallen's first place finish in the San Francisco Chronicle's Newspaper in Education writing contest, HHS was granted the award of participating with the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus. While on campus, the John Lennon Educational staff spent the day leading workshops, producing sessions, and conducting walking tours of the facility for students interested in songwriting, composition, multi-tracking, signal processing, production, video editing, and music technology. On-board computers demonstrated techniques such as digital and midi recording, editing, and the burning of CDs. All participants left with a CD of their work.
Since 1998, The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus has provided free hands-on educational labs to hundreds of high schools, colleges, Boys and Girls Clubs, music festivals, concerts, conventions and community organizations. Working together with some of the biggest names in music, the Bus educates audiences about the art of songwriting and video production. It encourages students to learn how to compose and write songs using traditional musical instruments as well as current technological advances.
A special thanks goes to Camille Lehrmann for coordinating the event and for providing extended learning activities to interested students through her Honors English classes.
21st Century After-School Programs We commend the efforts of the Healdsburg Unified School District as they continue to make a commitment to grant opportunities that provide an enhancement to the curricular program for all students. Healdsburg High School is beginning to experience the benefits that an after-school program provides for our school community. Presently, after school courses are being offered to provide academic support, recreational opportunities, and enrichment avenues for all students. New courses will be added throughout the three-year program based on student interest and academic needs. Sign-up sheets, updated course offerings, and course proposal applications are available through the Site-Coordinator, Darla Meeker in the high school counseling office. If you have any questions, call Darla at 473-4448.
