"Statement of Intent".  It is particularly important to contact the financial aid office and housing to make sure about money and living arrangements.

Many California State Universities are still accepting
applications for the fall.  Check in the Counseling
Office, Career Center,  or csu.mentor.edu for further information.

For our students who plan to attend Santa Rosa
Junior College, please remember that Noel Adams,
our Santa Rosa Junior College counselor, will be
on campus each month to meet with interested students.  Please sign up in the Counseling Office to see him.  Also, we will contact students eligible for the Doyle Scholarship in February requesting that they complete the application.  In the Spring, students
may sign up for Counseling 370, an eight hour class
designed to provide important information about the
junior college, including the enrollment process, courses offered, transfer programs, and vocational
programs.  It is important to note that students
who complete Guidance 370 will be given priority
registration for fall classes. Prior to registering for fall classes, students should take the English and Mathematics placement tests, which we hope to offer on
our campus once this spring.

During the month of February, counselors will be
sending out "graduation check" letters to seniors and their parents, notifying them of all requirements to be completed in order to graduate.  There are still a number of ways to make up elective and required classes if necessary.  Remember that seniors who fail a class required for graduation either due to poor performance or seven or more unexcused absences will not graduate.

JUNIORS
All college bound juniors should register to take the SAT or ACT, college admissions tests, for the first time this spring.  Students interested in the UC
system or one of the selective private universities should also take the SAT II, subject area examinations, this spring.  Registration forms are available in the
Career Center, as well as information on SAT preparation programs, including the "Shot-in-the-Arm" class, which will be offered on campus, Saturday, March 29th.  Please call 431-3473 for further information.

Spring and summer are excellent times to visit college campuses.  There are also a number of wonderful summer programs available for juniors and sophomores.  Again, visit or call the Career Center for further information.

SOPHOMORES
Sophomores will be contacted for "Sophomore Counseling" this spring. Sophomore Counseling is a review of the first two years of high school, a plan for the remaining two years, and a discussion of post secondary options.  It is a time to review graduation  requirements, credits, and college and vocations programs.
ALL JUNIORS, SOPHOMORES, AND FRESHMEN will be scheduled for fall classes during February and March.  Students will be given the required information in their English classes, with the request that students discuss the information with their parents.  Students will be called into the Counseling
Office to finalize the schedule with their counselor.  It is crucial that students and parents put in time and thought prior to the counselor/student conference.  The master schedule is based on courses that students select at this time, so students will be held to the course selections made.

Youth Business Week will be held during Easter break.  This program offers students an opportunity to work at local businesses.  Applications are available for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Once again, contact the Career Center for information on this program and many other opportunities!
